Doesn't it sweat and chafe around the eyes?
Not really. The smart arch construction keeps the mask clear of the eyes, so there's no pressure or rubbing on that sensitive spot. And thanks to the good ventilation all around, it stays airy in there, so your horse doesn't get sweaty.
Doesn't it get very warm under the mask?
No, it doesn't get any warmer under the UV-Defender than under a regular fly mask. Around the visor there's breathable mesh with UPF 50+, so heat can easily escape. This mask also has more room on the inside than many other masks, so your horse's head stays airy.
Does the mask stay in place if my horse rubs or rolls?
Yes, the mask stays firmly in place, even if your horse rubs or rolls. The polycarbonate is a very flexible and strong material, so it doesn't just break when your horse rolls. It is important to choose the right size, though, as that ensures a nice, secure fit.
How fragile is the polycarbonate?
Polycarbonate is one of the strongest plastics there is, and very flexible. It doesn't just snap. That's exactly why it's used for the visor: it protects against sun and UV, while staying flexible when your horse moves or rolls.
What size does my horse need?
The UV-Defender is currently available in cob and horse sizes and fits fairly generously. Does your horse normally need extra full, or is it in between two sizes? Then horse size is likely to fit well. Not sure? Measure the circumference of the head and send us the measurements, and we'll gladly help you work it out.
Will there be other sizes, colours or versions?
At the moment the UV-Defender is only available in the current sizes, colour and version. So there's no shet size, lighter colour or forelock opening yet. We'll look at other sizes and your feedback again for next year.
